We submitted a proposal to a City of Mataró tender. The call was cancelled and the project never happened. In any case, we love to share (and we’re really happy with the result) so we’ve decided to publish it.
Desacord is a cultural programming cycle where classical music coexists with disciplines like dance, visual arts or poetry. Five days of concerts, workshops and activities to explore a way of experiencing classical music that is more accessible and close.
Mataró’s old prison becomes the main stage of the cycle, a space full of history that invites both the audience and the artists to break free from the rigidity of the time signature and to experiment without prejudice.
The visual identity starts with the five lines of the stave to build a system that expands and contracts, generating compositions based on 4/4 patterns, one of the most common time signatures in Western music. At the same time, the typeface connects the city with its Roman past, reclaiming ancient codes from a new perspective.
Because classical music can also be fun and experimental.
And tradition can become an experience of freedom.
